How to Choose the Right Condom for You
The right condom depends on your body, your partner, the kind of sex you are having, and what matters most to you.
Step 1 — Rule Out Allergies First
Latex allergy symptoms range from mild — itching, redness, a rash — to severe anaphylaxis. If you have ever reacted to latex gloves, rubber bands, or balloons, a latex condom reaction is likely. In India, many people experience mild reactions and assume it is friction or lubricant — when the condom material itself is the problem.
If there is a latex allergy, polyisoprene is the closest feel-equivalent. Polyurethane is the thinnest option. Both provide full protection.
Step 2 — Know What Matters Most to You
Maximum sensation — Go ultra thin latex or polyurethane. These transmit body heat most effectively.
Longer duration — Look for condoms with benzocaine on the interior. All Sixseasons condoms include benzocaine 4.5%.
Enhanced pleasure for both — Ribbed and dotted textures increase stimulation. Texture does not affect protection.
Flavour for oral sex — Flavoured condoms are for oral contact only, not intercourse.
Step 3 — Lubricant Compatibility
Latex and polyisoprene — water-based or silicone-based only. Coconut oil, baby oil, and petroleum jelly degrade latex within minutes.
Polyurethane — compatible with all lubricant types.
In India, many people use coconut oil as a natural lubricant. With latex or polyisoprene condoms, this is a risk worth knowing about.
Step 4 — Always Check the Certification
In India, look for the ISI mark (IS 4046) or CE mark for imports. Always verify before purchasing — especially online.
Step 5 — Experiment
Many people use the same condom their entire adult life because they never tried anything else. Ultra thin, different textures, or different brands are worth trying. A slightly better fit or thinner material can make a significant difference for both partners.
